We are excited to announce that Rockmont’s full-time team is growing in 2017! Stan Wilson will be joining our team as Associate Director of Programming and Risk Management.
Stan returns to Rockmont after 22 years in pastoral ministry, the last fourteen as pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi. Rockmont is where he first discovered gifts to lead and a calling to serve. He joined the staff in 1980 as a junior counselor, and worked until 1994 as Tribal Director, Mountain Camp Director, and Program Director. Stan is a graduate of Furman University, Duke Divinity School, and Fuller Theological Seminary. He is a leader in the Ekklesia Project, an ecumenical gathering of pastors, scholars, and laypeople devoted to serving the church. He believes there is something central to the gospel about calling, celebrating, and leading young people, and he is excited about the opportunity to return to camp work.
Stan is married to Jennifer, a high school math teacher, and they are the parents of Jane and Kate. For the past decade, the Wilsons lived on a small farm, raising vegetables and chickens, and enjoying the outdoors. They like to hike, throw Frisbees, shell peas, and eat well. Stan looks forward to cycling and backpacking in the North Carolina mountains.
