A Fantastic Tribal Activity Tuesday!

Shawn Marler July 27, 2016

We had quite the fun-filled day at Rockmont today! It included Tribal Activities, Free Swims, and an awesome thunderstorm to cool off the afternoon. The Hickories, Hemlocks, and Sycamores continued their day in the forest for their Tribal and Cabin Campouts today. These campouts are such important times of growth, connecting with the natural world around them and seeing God in Creation, as well as establishing and developing friendships here. We can’t wait to hear all about their adventures when they return back to camp tomorrow! The Buckeyes and Birches started off the morning by playing two of our most popular shirt-tail-tag games, Gladiator and Risk, both involving team-based strategy and competition. The Poplars played a crazy game of Three-Ball-Three-Disc, which is a combination of soccer and ultimate frisbee. Everyone was excited for a Free Swim time to cool down just before lunch.

We had a Taco Tuesday-themed lunch followed by our daily rest period. An afternoon thunderstorm brought us some rain, but it didn’t put a damper on the fun here. The Buckeyes and Birches set-up various game rotations within the cabins of the lodges, moving from one cabin activity to the next. It was a great opportunity to strengthen camper bonds within cabins and within the tribe. The Birches even ended their time with a lip sync competition. The Poplars, meanwhile, headed to the gym to start playing dodgeball. The skies cleared up and we were all able to run outside to enjoy a Free Swim before dinner.

A full plate of roast beef, baked potato, rolls, broccoli, salad, and apple pie for dessert filled us for an engaging evening! All of Bear Camp headed straight to the Gym to play a wild game of Battleball (dodgeball with a whole lot of dancing involved), and the Poplars met at the Dam to play Gladiator and then got to enjoy a night swim at the Waterfront tonight. This busy Tuesday came to a close with Cabin Devotions. Tonight’s passage was Luke 12:22-34, Jesus Provides More Than Enough. The campers and their counselors discussed the good news they found in the fact Jesus knows our needs and that he is eager to provide. He changes the way we think about what we value while making us feel valued in the process. We are looking forward to a new and exciting day at camp tomorrow as we head back to more Skills and welcome the return of the Hickories, Hemlocks, and Sycamores from their camp outs!
