Today was packed with adventure from start to finish.
Campers spent the morning diving into their favorite skills before an afternoon full of exciting tribal games.
For the first time this summer, Deer and Mountain Camp stormed the beaches in an epic game of Invasion.
We used dozens of various watercrafts while the opposing team defended with water balloons. Meanwhile, Bear Camp enjoyed an afternoon down at the pickleball courts enjoying intramurals. We experienced some brief rain showers, but they only seemed to make the games more memorable.
As dinner got underway, the atmosphere changed in an instant.
Austin stumbled into the dining hall looking battered and exhausted.
Before anyone could make sense of what had happened, the shocking news broke: he had been bitten by a zombie. Camp was officially in the middle of an outbreak!
Campers scattered in every direction as the CDC announcement echoed across camp. The only hope for survival was to create the cure by collecting seven different paint colors hidden throughout camp. The challenge sounded simple enough, but there was one major problem: an ever-growing horde of zombies was hunting every remaining human.
The humans fought bravely and, for a while, it looked like they had a real chance.
Campers like William and Andrew showcased outstanding teamwork by guiding one another to the hidden paint colors, helping several campers collect nearly every ingredient needed for the cure.
Unfortunately, the zombies multiplied at an unbelievable pace. Every shirt tail they pulled added another member to their army, making survival more difficult by the minute. Leading the relentless attack were the three Zombie Kings: Luke, Justin, and Austin. Humanity was not able to return the cure to our CDC, and our hardworking zombies were victorious.
The outbreak could not be contained. WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP.
A day like today is one of my favorites.
As we near the end of the session (and end of the summer!), campers and staff alike give everything they’ve got. It’s been an amazing session and an amazing 10 weeks of the summer.
I’m so grateful for every camper and staff member who has come through our gates.
