When I first got to Rockmont in 2018, I sat in a training led by Dan Davis and Stan Wilson where they shared the meaning of “the gospel.”
Gospel means, and is, “Good News.”
The good news for humanity and the world is we have been redeemed and saved by grace. What a beautiful truth that was to learn.
At the end of that training, Dan and Stan charged (challenged) the staff to go out and do three things: 1. Spread the good news, 2. Find good news, and 3. Be good news for others.
Today, I had the opportunity to host lunch today in the dining hall.
At the end of the meal, I got on the mic, and I shared about the meaning of the gospel and how we need to be intentional about searching for good news in the world.
One would think in a world full of darkness it would be difficult to find good news. I promise you it isn’t, and it wasn’t hard for the campers to find some either.
I challenged everyone to find some good news, and when they see me — they can share it with me.
Here is what I have heard so far.
“It’s good news that we get to come here for the summer!”
“The waterfront is good news!”
“Being here with my cousins is good news!”
“The sunshine and wind are good news.”
“I got to change my skill to Homesteading, and that’s good news.”
Personally, I learned that a few staff members are staying the full summer. For me, that’s good news because they bring great gifts to this place, and all campers should be able to experience them.
I challenge you the same way Dan and Stan challenged me four years ago: 1. Spread the Good news, 2. Find the good news, and 3. Be good news for others.
How have you seen good news in your community? How have you spread the good news in your community?
