Monday marks the official full week of camp for our Classic 1 campers.
Monday also brings about the restart of the rhythm of camp!
Our intrepid adventurers are feeling the comfort of the rhythm. The day is full of skills and campers are gaining confidence with every fulfilling experience. We did veggie picking in homesteading, where our young farmers picked over sixty pounds of veggies to donate to our community.
Over at canoeing and paddleboarding our surly pirates gracefully avoided a gale only to find an immaculate rainbow on the other side!
From trap shooting down to nature, an easy lob over to tennis, with discs flying all over the place, today was full of adventure and achievement. Challenges were bested. And there were lots of smiles to go around.
Our evening was full of splashing and sliding and hooting and hollering!
The waterfront is always a hive of activity and tonight was no different. Something unique was that all three camps joined in the fun together. It’s truly magical to see the bonds growing closer as new friends become best friends. It is another reason why I’m so blessed to be a part of this community.
Now the sun has set and another, more quenching rain has set in, and we managed to finish showers just in the nick of time. The rainbows have given way to thunder, lightning and a soothing downpour lulls us to sleep. Comfortable in our places, in our friendships, and the knowledge that we have another great day ahead tomorrow, we drift off to sleep.
It’s one of life’s many lessons to feel hope and disappointment at the same time, yet it is a good lesson.
While we know we have three more full days of wonder and fellowship, we also know that Friday is coming fast. So we will take up the challenge to squeeze every drop of fun we can from our remaining moments with this group.
It’s probably one reason why some campers are so averse to sleeping — perhaps they want to keep tomorrow at bay a little longer!

JOHN – I have been reading these blog posts with anticipation for the past 7 years since my boys (John and Marshall) began their journey at Rockmont. I am always WILDLY impressed with the narrative and your post is no different. Thank you for SO eloquently expressing how my boys must feel right now. You have a gift with words and a greater gift mentoring these young men.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!
