More than Enough

Drew Fowler July 14, 2015

As the storm clouds roll across Lake Eden, the energy of a day well spent it palpable on our mountain. Today was the first full day of our third Classic Camp session, and one of my favorite times of the summer. Today is a day of growth, of acceptance, and of belief. Where some found uncertainty yesterday, peace is now found. This peace is found in the relationships that have been quickly cultivated, in the activities, in the food, and most of all in the fun.

Today was just that—a whole lot of fun. It all began with an 8:00 breakfast in Eden Hall where French toast sticks, grits, and oatmeal with raisins was served. Campers needed the fuel for a morning full of skills. Lunch soon followed with chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and fudge pops. After a rest period, it was back to skills to finish off the complete schedule of skills that your campers signed up for. Today was an exciting one as they got to begin the process of mastering a new trade or continuing an old one. Many of your campers are stepping into the unknown of a new concept and idea, and will show incredible and specific signs of growth in these areas. What was once an unknown and an uncertainty will soon become a strength and ability.

After an afternoon freeswim, campers went back to the dining hall to enjoy some hamburgers, chips, baked beans, and brownies. Following this, Bear and Deer Camp went to their council sites for a time of reflection, song, and game on the mountain. Following in the theme of the day, many will be entering a strange place for the first time. They will hear a message from the Bible about how Jesus is our provider, and even though we may doubt or fear the lack of certainty—God will always provide exactly what we need and in great abundance. That is a certainty for all our campers tonight, and a message that we can freely receive as well.
