What. A. Day.
Today started bright and early with the bugle sounding at 7:40 this morning with the classic wakeup call:
“Good morning Camp Rockmont! Breakfast will be served in 20 minutes.”
We have had this saying since at least 2018 when I was a counselor “expect more from Classic 4.”
Classic 4 is our last summer session.
The staff is starting to feel it by this time of the summer, but this saying is an invitation to each of us to expect more from ourselves, from each other, and to expect great things to happen in this session.
Classic 4 opens the door for great things to happen!
It allows time for staff to do something they haven’t done yet — to show up in a way they’ve wanted to all summer.
On Sunday morning, Daniel Weatherby (marketing and Bear Camp director) assured the staff that this was the session where they should show up and show out.
The staff has done just that.
On Monday, I got the opportunity to see staff jump in on tasks that they usually wouldn’t do — including myself.
Today and yesterday, during free swim, I had the opportunity to work the bottom of the zipline.
This task can be tedious depending on how you handle it. Each time a group came down, I would ask, “how was it?!” Enthusiastically, they would respond each time:
“Awesome!”
Classic 4 brings a different type of energy, and today (and for the rest of the session), I am grateful for it. It is contagious energy you can tap into and gain so much from.
I sit in anticipation expecting more from Classic 4, and I cannot wait to see what other greatness will come from this session!
