Catalyst Recognized for Program Excellence

Camp Rockmont April 6, 2017

At this year’s American Camping Association conference in Albuquerque, NM, the Rockmont Catalyst Program was recognized for excellence in programming with the Edie Klein Award. This award is given in recognition of existing programs of an exceptional nature occurring at a camp or retreat center in the Southeast. At the ACA Conference, Rockmont Directors Dan, Shawn, Stan, and Andrew had the honor of accepting the award and sharing about the Catalyst program.

The Catalyst Program marks the end of the boy’s time as a camper and the beginning of his life as a young man. This invitation is good news for our 16 and 17 year-olds, but it is never easy. The path to becoming a young man is not something that is merely stumbled upon, engaged in many youth organizations, or happens during your first semester at college. During our years of working with boys and young men, we have seen the need for a more intentional journey during this time of development.

The Catalyst Program is our hope to jump-start this time of transition.

Over it’s six-year journey so far, the Catalyst Program has cultivated many encounters for young men to walk into the bigger story that Jesus has called us into. We are grateful to be recognized and will continue to initiate and welcome young men into their stories so that they go back into their communities with a life of service toward others.

Gratefully,

The Rockmont Team
