We can’t believe that the first week of Classic 4 is coming to a close, but what a great week it has been! Everyone enjoyed a delicious and filling breakfast this morning, and the Poplars arrived back to camp from their Tribal Campout just in time for a day full of skills. It has been a joy to watch the campers during their skills. Their many projects are starting to come together and goals are being met as they excel at all of the different activities. They have persevered through tasks that some may have thought they would not be able to complete and we have seen so much growth in them because of these new and challenging experiences.
Once skills had ended we all met in Eden Hall for dinner, except for the Bear Campers who departed just after skills for their Tribal and Cabin Campouts. After a hearty dinner of pork loin, stuffing, green beans, and rolls, the Deer and Mountain campers headed off to their evening Tribal Activities. Deer Camp had a really exciting spread of options for their evening…they could go down the giant slip-n-slide on Inspiration Point, take a ride on the Gully Washer, use canoes and paddle boards, or go down the zipline. This wasn’t enough time in the water for the Hickories, so they also got to have the Waterfront to themselves for a Night Swim. The Mountain Campers had a little bit more of a relaxing night as they first went to their cabins for Cabin Devotions and then all met back in the gym for Mountain Camp Movie Night! They were very so excited for a night to hang out with friends, drink Cheerwine and eat candy from the Cola-Stop.
During tonight’s Cabin Devotions the campers discussed Luke 4:1-14, Jesus is Tempted in the Wilderness. In this passage, we found good news in the fact that Jesus was able to overcome temptation and is a present Help for us as well. He is stronger than anything we face and He will give us the strength we find ourselves in a similar wilderness. He is our strength and His Word guides us!
It has truly been a pleasure to be able to spend time with your campers this past week and we are looking forward to the time that we have left with them!
