Miles Murphy

Miles grew up in Asheville, NC before moving to Baton Rouge to study philosophy at LSU. He grew up recreating outdoors with his family doing everything from backpacking to mountain biking to whitewater kayaking. Miles has spent the last 8 years working as an outdoor professional in North Carolina, Idaho, and California while sprinkling in international travel to the South Pacific and Latin America. He brings a wealth of experience working with young adults, executing wilderness trips, and cultivating joyful camp environments. He works hard to offer outdoor adventure trips for Rockmont campers as the Adventure Team director during the summer and spreads the good news of camp throughout the year as the Marketing director. Over the years working at summer camps, Miles has learned that the people- campers, staff, and counselors- are what make camp so special.

Miles, his wife Mary Campbell, and their Great Pyrenees “Big” are ecstatic to be back in the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounded by campers excited for the Rockmont Experience. In his free time, Miles can be found kayaking the rivers of southern Appalachia and camping with Mary Campbell and Big.
