Each summer, from mid-June to mid-August, Rockmont is a private, Christian camp serving over 1,600 young people from all parts of the world. The rest of the year, we make our facilities available to groups both large and small.

Located on the site of the former Black Mountain College, Rockmont is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a beautiful rustic setting—600 acres of mountainous woodlands including a private lake—that keeps groups coming back year after year.

Grey Eagle Lodge

Sleeps 33 • 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bunk rooms, 3 Baths

Grey Eagle Lodge is perfect for church, school, corporate, and family retreats! Nestled within the Camp Rockmont grounds, this bunkhouse-style lodge sleeps up to 33 people and features a beautiful great room/kitchen gathering space with a stone fireplace and plenty of seating. There are two large bunkrooms on either side of the great room, each with 14 bunk beds and a large bathroom. Bed linens, towels and pillows are provided. Upstairs is a private room with a queen bed and bath, and an adjoining single bedroom which shares the bathroom, along with two large game rooms (which may be converted to meeting spaces upon request). Recreational and team-building experiences and activities, audiovisual equipment, and catered meals are also available for Grey Eagle Lodge guests through Camp Rockmont. Many visitors combine the rental of Grey Eagle Lodge with other lodges and cabins on the campgrounds for gatherings of up to 600 people.

The town of Black Mountain offers a variety of great local shops, live music, and dining options just five miles from home. Asheville is just 15 miles away.

At Grey Eagle Lodge, take in the surrounding property views while relaxing around the outdoor firepit or in one of two game rooms upstairs. The game rooms feature Ping-Pong, foosball, darts, and checkers! If you’re up for a mountain hike, a round of disc golf, a game of pickleball, tennis, or basketball, or even fishing in one of our lakes – all are available for additional fees through Camp Rockmont. Let us help you plan your retreat!

The great room welcomes more casual downtime and small-group meeting space, with plenty of seating, a smart TV, a projector screen, and table games. A HDMI projector is available with advance notice. The stainless steel kitchen comes well-appointed for handling family-style meal prep for 30+ people with ease. Central heat, free WiFi, and a private washer/dryer round out the modern home essentials. Firewood is provided.

Within quick driving distance of the lodge, guests can enjoy exploring Black Mountain and Asheville, offering a variety of locally-owned shops, live music venues, and eateries.

The fun continues back at Valley View Lodge gathered around the Ping-Pong table, Pool table or a board games. A gas grill, and firepit extend the memorable moments. The home’s game room opens up into the spacious bunk room, ideal for any member of the family, this space boasts seven beds.

Rockmont’s buildings and grounds are suited for a variety of purposes. We routinely accommodate up to 6,000 people each spring and fall for an annual 3-day music festival, yet our buildings, fields, and other facilities are close enough to one another to be convenient for small groups. Our various buildings include ample meeting space for seminars and retreats.

On the shores of Lake Eden, picturesque Eden Hall serves as both our dining and banquet/dance/meeting hall. A full-service commercial kitchen supports our food service operation, and a large stone fireplace anchors one end of the long room, adding both atmosphere and warmth.

Amenities and Accommodations

We can provide meeting rooms if you need them, and our facilities include 2 soccer fields, 3 softball fields, a football field, 8 pickle ball courts and 2 tennis courts. Activities can range from basketball and swimming to canoeing, fishing, volleyball, horseshoes, Frisbee golf, and hiking on miles of marked trails. Special arrangements can be made to use our 50-foot climb and rappel tower, Gully Washer, water wall, and the zip-line.

Camp Rockmont provides some equipment for rental groups, to include items such as canoes, paddles, life jackets, etc. Rockmont will also provide a staff of certified and trained lifeguards for any rental agreement involving waterfront activity. Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss what other rental items or personnel we can offer. We will gladly assist you in locating cooks, caterers, entertainers, program specialists, music, or any other equipment, supplies, or services you might need that are not provided by Rockmont as part of your lease agreement.
